Lowell -- The Miracle Worker

Recently our mixed media artisan Nancy Mellon decided to challenge to our wood turner Lowell Converse. She gave him a kitchen knife that she had received as a wedding present many years ago. It had seen better days certainly, but this was her "go to" knife and leave it to Lowell to breathe new life into a beloved everyday item and make it beautiful.

Artisans Out and About -- Color and Light -- Libby Rudolf

From March 11 through the end of April, the Winds Café will host an exhibition by Libby Rudolf, "

Watercolors: Color and Light." There will be a reception for the artist at the Winds on March 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  The exhibition is in honor of Vanessa, Libby’s sister-in-law who died last year, and twenty percent of art sale proceeds will go to Dayton Children’s Hospital. Libby is a member of the VillageArtisans co-op in Yellow Springs.

Open Community Art Show at Village Artisans

"March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb". As the members of Village

Artisans were discussing themes for their next Open Community Art Show, they

wondered how many different ways the very creative artists of Yellow Springs could

interpret this phrase in their work?

The challenge to all community artists is to express your vision of “The Lion and The

Lamb” in a piece of 2 or 3 dimensional work for the March/April exhibit in the Village

Artisans Lobby Gallery. All are invited to use your imagination and become part of the

next gallery show. The spring theme may be interpreted broadly.

The deadline for entries is March 1, 2014. Entry forms will be available at Village

Artisans, 100 Corry Street. They may also be found at the Arts Council Gallery,

Unfinished Creations and online at www.shopvillageartisans.com. A $10.00 entry fee is

requested and there is a 15% commission for any sold pieces.

Village Artisans will host an Artist Reception on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 6-9 pm.

There will be refreshments and fun. Exhibitors, their friends and family and the entire

community is invited to view the artwork and share snacks and a good time.

Extended Holiday Hours

Bound 2B Round

 For several years Yellow Springs Village Artisans has challenged artists to “Dare 2B Square” and create square art for our community show.  This year, our brains have hit a curve, and we ended up “Bound 2B Round”!  We challenged artists to let their artistic creativity explore “round.”  And did they ever!  We received  41 entries from 28 different artists.  They have created two or three-dimensional art that is on display for the month of October in the Village Artisans Gallery at 100 Corry Street.  Drop around weekdays from 11-5 and weekends 11-6 to see the show and circle your calendars for Friday October 18 from 6-9 for the artist reception. Come and meet these well-rounded creative artists and join us for a round snack and drink.  There is also an interactive corner so you can create a round piece of art and add it to the show!
